Car Boot Sale - A Big Thank You!

A huge thank you goes out to all the people that attended the Court Moor Bulembu Car Boot Sale at Court Moor School today 29/05/2010. Despite the not so ideal weather a respectable number of sellers turn out on the day with a stream of buyers visiting the car boot sale throughout the morning.

In total the event raised £229 towards the project fund raising. Thanks goes out to everyone involved in helping with the planning and setting up for the event. Food and Coffee was provided by Cafe2U from Reading. This mobile coffee facility can be booked for events by emailing tim@cafe2u.co.uk

Organising and holding a Car Boot Sale is one of the numerous fund raising projects identified by the students, parents and organisers involved in the Court Moor Bulembu Voluntary Project. The Court Moor Bulembu Project involves sending twenty Court Moor students to Bulembu in Swaziland for three weeks during their school summer holidays, where they will give up the spoils of their modern western life to help HIV/AIDS orphans.

This one-off Car Boot Sale will occur in the grounds of Court Moor School on Saturday 29th May 2010.
Details of the event:
Stall set-up from 0800h - Cost £6 per car
Open to public from 0900h to 1300h – Admission free, but a bucket will be available at the gate for donations

Organising and holding an Auction Evening is one of the numerous fund raising projects identified by the students, parents and organisers involved in the Court Moor Bulembu Voluntary Project. The Court Moor Bulembu Project involves sending twenty Court Moor students to Bulembu in Swaziland for three weeks during their school summer holidays, where they will give up the spoils of their modern western life to help HIV/AIDS orphans.

The Auction Evening will be held at Court Moor School on Friday 16th July 2010, less than one week before the students embark on their historic expedition to Bulembu in Swaziland.

Various items have been donated for auction, including:
A signed Vancouver Winter Olympics sweatshirt signed by Amy Williams (our only gold medallist), Steve Cram, Graham Bell, Paul Dickenson and others
An official running vest signed by Kelly Holmes (2004 Olympic double gold medallist)
Some vintage bottles of wine

Find Out More About Bulembu

The Village of Bulembu is a magnificent village,blessed with natural beauty and a rich cultural heritage. Located in the scenic Highveld in the North-West Swaziland, Bulembu was originally built to support an extensive Chrysotile mining operation, the Havelock Mine, which operated between 1938 and 2001. Over the years an impressive infrastructure was developed to support a thriving community of up to 10,000, including a broad range of housing, several schools, a hospital, stores, fuel stations, social entertainment and recreational clubs, in fact – all of day to day the necessities of life for the town’s many inhabitants.

Today, although the mine is inactive, the town is beginning to grow as witnessed through the population increase from 100 to 1,000 people and 300 now existing jobs within the town. Several small enterprises have been established and many houses have been renovated and are in full operation, being used by town residents, businesses, ministries and tourists. However, although this is a viable start, many in the community realize that progress is only possible if the existing
infrastructure continues to be revitalized.

Bulembu has a unique advantage to support economic growth and community development through the existing critical infrastructure already in place.

• Approximately 1,200 houses.
• Industrial complex with over 5 large warehouse structures.
• 80-bed Hospital.
• 3 schools with a total capacity of 1,800.
• Recreational facilities including a sports complex, tennis courts, swimming pool, soccer fields, and a nine hole golf course.
• Three permanent police officers and twenty-four Security Guards to maintain a good
and safe environment for the residents of Bulembu.

Curry Night in Support of the Court Moor Bulembu Project

The New Diwan-EE-Khas Restaurant at 413 London Road, Camberley GU15 3HZ is holding a Curry Night on 10th May 2010 in support of the Court Moor Bulembu Project.

The are two sittings: 18:00 - 20:00 Hours and 20:00 - 22:00 Hours

At a Cost of Only £10.00 per person for an all you can eat buffet.

Tickets are available directly from the Restaurant or from the School Finance Office at Court Moor School in Fleet.

A huge thank you to everyone that attended this event, everyone enjoed the evening and the evening raised over £600 for the fund. This does not include a large donation from a local man.

The Hart Shopping Centre Cake Stall

A great success - so Firstly, many thanks everyone who baked and delivered cakes and/or ‘manned the stall’ today.

Secondly, An even bigger thank you to all the members of the public that made the wise decision to make a purchase from the Cake stall.

Thirdly, more thanks to everyone who ‘manned the stall’ from start at 0830h to finish at 1500h.

Finally, congratulations to everyone - Shoppers. parents and students, bakers and stall-manners. Your efforts raised a fantastic total of £166.59.

Finally (I promise), the next Cake Stall is next Saturday at the Hart Shopping Centre, so more cakes please, and even more generosity from the public.

Fundraising Update - 15/04/10

Hello everyone!

Lots of news today as all the buzzing Bulembu worker-bee's are out there fundraising hard for the trip!

BAG PACKING FRENZY IN FLEET

A big hand to everyone who helped out (and indeed shopped) in Sainsbury's in Fleet on the tenth this month! It was a hugely successfull fundraiser with everyone chipping in and working hard, for the PHENOMENAL amount of £428 AND 57 SHINY PENNIES.

COMING THIS MONTH...

On the 17th this month, its time to get your sweet tooth's on, as the project has its very own cake stall in Fleet shopping centre! If you just happen to like cakes (and I know I do) we'll be selling home-made delights outside Clarks Shoe Shop in Hart Shopping Centre.

On a slightly different note, its time to get your goggles on to go and support the sponsored swimmers in Hart Leisure centre on the 18th! They're swimming a whole MILE and will be exhausted, so they need YOU cheering them on!

And for everyone who wants to be informed can attend the (boring) PARENTS MEETING on 20th of April in the school 7 o'clock, if you have a spare few hours.
